In Jerusalem, there was a man named was Simeon, this man was righteous and devout, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ, because of his doubt when he was translating the Bible and certainly Isaiah 7:14 which say that “the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (God is with us)”. Simeon was inspired by the Spirit he came into the temple.
When the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, Joseph and Mary brought Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord") and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons."
When Joseph and Mary brought in the Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law, Simeon took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, "Lord, now have kept your promise, and you may let your servant go in peace. With my own eyes I have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the presence of all peoples; a light to reveal your will to the Gentiles, and to bring glory to your people Israel." The child’s father and mother amazed at what Simeon said about him. Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, "Behold, this child is chosen by God for the destruction and the salvation of many in Israel. He will be a sign from God which many people speak against and so reveal their secret thoughts. And sorrow, like a sharp sword will break your own heart”.
